A Long Vernal Season: staff list

A Long Vernal Season has a number of new Hogwarts staff members in it after the changes at the end of Death’s Dominion. If you’ve read through chapter two, you have encountered a number of their names. Here is a little list to tell you a little about them and help you keep them straight. 🙂

Birth dates for most canon characters are not canon (Minerva’s and Hagrid’s are approximately canon, and Severus’s comes from canon). The RaMverse fics were begun in early 2007, before JKR gave a specific, later birth year for Dumbledore; prior to that, she had said he was “about 150,” and folks estimated his birth year to be around 1840. Since I try to keep the RaMverse internally consistent and a change of over forty years for Dumbledore’s birth year would throw off the entire foundational story, I’ve just kept the original birth year of 1840.

Carter, Manning, Ouellette, Lloyd, and Benetti have all either appeared in previous Resolving a Misunderstanding universe fics or their relatives have. Carter’s uncle was Robert Pretnick; her father was Matthew Carter, and both appeared in Resolving a Misunderstanding (“RaM”). David Manning was mentioned in RaM, and his parents both worked for Quin in RaM. Olivia Ouellette’s father was Oliver Ouellette, the second Minister for Magic in RaM. Caspar Lloyd was a first-year Gryffindor in the final chapter of RaM, “Sorted.” Helena Benetti was introduced in Death’s Dominion and flew in Hooch’s squadron in defense of Hogwarts.
