The results were very close in the Rare Pair Fanfic Poll, and we actually have one tie.
ETA: The first Rare Pair fic has been posted to An Archive of Our Own: “STRAY”. It’s the first in a series of three novellas featuring Rolanda Hooch and Sirius Black. (It’s also available on the Petulant Poetess in a chaptered format.)
First set of three:
- Rolanda Hooch/Rubeus Hagrid
- Gilderoy Lockhart/Molly (Prewett) Weasley
- Filius Flitwick/Minerva McGonagall
And the rare pair picked:
Rolanda Hooch/Rubeus Hagrid.
Filius/Minerva trailed behind, with Gilderoy/Molly in second place.
Second set:
- Albus Dumbledore/Filius Flitwick
- Minerva McGonagall/Rubeus Hagrid
- Arthur Weasley/Hermione Granger
And we have a tie between Albus Dumbledore/Filius Flitwick and Minerva McGonagall/Rubeus Hagrid. It was almost a three-way tie, with the third pair only one vote shy of the others.
For set three:
- Rolanda Hooch/Sirius Black
- Arthur Weasley/Poppy Pomfrey
- Lucius Malfoy/Molly (Prewett) Weasley
And the winning pair:
Rolanda Hooch/Sirius Black.
Arthur/Poppy were in second place, and Lucius/Molly in third.
I am not sure yet what I’ll do about the tie. I may flip a coin, I may have a tie-breaking poll, I may take suggestions from anyone who wants to weigh in on which of the two pairs, AD/FF or MM/RH, gets a story. Or I may let my Muse guide me and just pick the pair myself! 😉
So let me know what you think about the results — and the tie! — and I’ll begin to think about a fic for Madam Hooch and a gentleman friend! 😛

Those are some intriguing results – I’m especially interested in how a Sirius/Rolanda fic would work out, and I’m looking forward to seeing how you do it. 🙂

I would have been disappointed in you if your mind had gone anywhere else, Di! LOL!
I’m trying to figure out a time-frame for that one. I think it will be a harder one to write than RH/RH. Not that scenarios immediately spring to mind, but there are more opportunities for them!
Hmm, some interesting choices and I have to say I’m a little concerned about the Albus and Minerva stories, but I know you won’t let the GLM suffer too long or too hard. lol. I don’t think my heart could handle the citrus in those two stories. lol Can’t wait to see what you come up with, though. wheeeeeee!!!
It will be interesting. I think I will start with one of the Rolanda fics first, and then I can take my time deciding what to do about our tie!
Don’t worry — if I think you might find a story too painful to read (about one of your favorite characters), I’ll give you fair warning! But I think that it should be fun to see what I can do with each of the pairs. 😉
