Blogging: I created this site primarily for announcements and information about my Harry Potter fanfiction, to discuss the fictional universe of Harry Potter, and to talk about Harry Potter fanfiction in general. I do occasionally digress into other topics according to my mood!

There are two sides to this site: the blog, with dated entries, including announcements about story updates, and the web pages, where I post a number of my shorter stories, some easy-to-find information about my fics, and other fanfic reference pages.

I started out blogging over at LiveJournal in June 2007, then imported all my posts over to WordPress.com blog hosting in January 2009, and this is now my main MMADfan home on the web. I love hearing from and talking to visitors, readers, and HP fanfic fans, so do feel free to leave comments on posts.

Fanfiction: My stories generally focus on the adult Harry Potter canon characters, such as Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, and Severus Snape. I archive my stories primarily to An Archive of Our Own and the Petulant Poetess archive these days, although I still occasionally post over on fanfiction.net, as well.

If you’re interested in a specific sort of story, you may find this list of fics sorted by type to be useful; they’re sorted by genre, primary character, ’ship, length, etc. Otherwise, take a look at the full listing of my fanfiction here.

I started out writing ADMM fanfic (Albus Dumbledore/Minerva McGonagall; hence the “MMAD” in “MMADfan”), but I also have written other pairings, and enjoy writing many different characters.

Not all of my fics are romances, nor do they all focus on a particular ’ship, though I do like to explore the relationships between characters, whether they’re romantic ones or not. I’ve written a lot of Minerva McGonagall fanfiction, as well as some Snape fanfic and Dumbledore fanfic, but I sometimes like to play with HP characters I don’t often write, such as Remus Lupin and Sirius Black. My various stories span many decades and have many branching story lines that often interconnect. I feel that I weave three-dimensional stories when I write, something like a sculptural tapestry. I discovered that I really enjoy writing fiction, which I found a rather amazing experience when I first began to write Resolving a Misunderstanding back in February 2007. I’ve always written a lot, both in school and during my career, but writing dialogue, setting scenes, and weaving plots was a startlingly new and absorbing experience. And I still love it.

Many of my stories are either not compliant with Deathly Hallows or Deathly Hallows is irrelevant, since I began one of my primary series of fics prior to its publication. None of my stories, now or in the future, will seek to be compliant with anything revealed on Pottermore or in any other media outside of the Harry Potter series of seven books, plus Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages. If something from Pottermore inspires me, that’s lovely, but for the sake of my fanfic, I treat only the book series itself as canon. Even in my canon-divergent/AU series of fics, I try to be canon compliant at least through The Order of the Phoenix, and through The Half-Blood Prince in spirit, if not in detail!

Personal tidbits: I grew up a Yank, but lived south of the Mason-Dixon line for more than a decade before moving back North. I also lived for years in Germany and the UK and have travelled fairly extensively in Europe. I like any animal that doesn’t want to eat me, but am especially fond of cats, border collies, and Jack Russells. I like people pretty well, too, most of the time.
